Today I started a basketball clinic in Missouri; next
week in North Carolina; the week after in Alabama; and then I will start taking
on some students for the school year…
In the meantime the MAD Hoops coaches are in Alabama
conducting clinics…
And Coach Clay is moving this week to northern Indiana
and will be taking on clients up there…
Our Total Player Academy is in full swing right now! (And
of course using the platform to share Christ as the Substitute and God’s Word
as the Playbook for life!) We encourage them to “Get schooled now… so they won’t
be schooled later!”
All of these “students” have a choice to make; will they
take our advice and apply it to life? Or will they ignore the instruction and
do things their own way?
It would be quite silly to just throw away good advice
for the basketball court (and for life.) I spend a lot of time in the Proverbs
reading about wisdom verses foolishness. Simply put I want to be wise! I want
to heed instruction and honor the Lord with my life; and I want the same for
you!
The reality is that God has given us everything that we
need for a life of godliness; check out how Pastor Peterson put 2 Peter 1:3-4 into perspective: 3-4 Everything
that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by
getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The
best invitation we ever received! We were also given absolutely terrific
promises to pass on to you—your tickets to participation in the life of God
after you turned your back on a world corrupted by lust.
You (and I) are equipped to get the job
done. I regularly encourage you to [Make A Difference]; and the reality is that
all believers are without excuse when it comes to this challenge. I also love
the way he Pastor Peterson puts it in Ephesians
6:10-12 when discussing the importance of putting on God’s Armour…
10-12 And
that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take
everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best
materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything
the Devil throws your way. This is no
afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a
couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish
against the Devil and all his angels.
I’m calling us to be champions for Christ! Don’t ignore
what God has provided us to fight the battle!
MAD Hoops coaches
in Alabama, Give ‘em the ROCK! Proud of you guys!
